Triumph Hospital The Heights to Open Spring 2010

(Houston, Texas/August25, 2009) – Houston based Triumph HealthCare, the nation’s third largest provider of long-term acute care (LTAC) services, today announced a new location to open in the Houston Heights. The new location, expected to begin accepting patients in April of 2010, will operate 42 private rooms to include a state of the art, fully licensed 10 bed Intensive Care Unit (ICU). Triumph’s 40,000 square foot hospital, located at 1800 W. 26th Street, will occupy the fourth and fifth floors of this newly constructed building on the corner of Ella Blvd. directly behind Memorial Hermann Northwest Hospital.

Triumph Hospital The Heights is a remote location of Triumph Hospital North Houston which specializes in providing services to medically complex patients, designated by Medicare as a Long Term Acute Care Hospital. The average length of stay for patients in these specialty hospitals is over 25 days compared to 5-7 day length of stays in general acute care hospitals.

“Our hospitals have been designed to complement the care provided in the short-term acute care hospitals, like Memorial Hermann Northwest. Patients are referred to Triumph for the continuation of acute medical care because the severity and complexity of their condition precludes them from being accepted into a rehabilitation hospital or a skilled nursing facility” stated Brock Hardaway, President for Triumph HealthCare.

“Triumph Hospital North Houston will continue to operate at its licensed 288 beds. Instead of their three current locations, we are reallocating 42 beds to this new fourth location in order to better meet the needs of the patients we serve,” added Hardaway. Operations at the other three locations will not be impacted by the new location.

Triumph HealthCare, founded in Houston, will celebrate their ten year anniversary this fall. Triumph operates 20 Long Term Acute Care Hospitals nationwide, including ten existing locations in the Houston metropolitan area.
